Facebook and I !

I have had an account on Facebook for about two years. Like everyone else you need to be "invited" to join Facebook. On my "page" I have pictures and I talk to my friends about many different kinds of things like school, friends, clothes, music, parties, etc. I spend a lot of time on Facebook like most of my friends maybe 3 or 4 hours a day.

2. Facebook has become a way of communication for young people. Like Messenger and cellphones, now most young people communicate with each other on Facebook. In addition there are advertisements and invitations that are sent out from Facebook. The good thing about Facebook is that someone has to be your "friend" so he can send you a message. This prevents strange people from contacting you.

3. The 2 events that are mentioned are very sad but I don't think Facebook can be blamed. The boy who killed himself from what I understand had some problems before he started writing on Facebook. The girl who was raped by boys she met through Facebook should have been more careful, but Facebook cannot be blamed for it happening.

I agree with Maya's opinion about cell phones in the classroom. I also don't think that pupils should use cell phones during the lesson. They distract pupils during the lesson and they can't concentrate on the material. In the case of her friend the teacher did the right thing. Pupils should not use phones at all while they are learning.

My opinion on Ofir's blog about homework:
In my opinion I don't agree with most of Ofir's blog. I feel that homework is usually very important and can help make a pupil more successful in his studies. Homework helps you review the material you learn in the classroom and also helps you to be prepared for tests.
I think that this is true for all subjects and not only mathematics as Ofir said in her blog

My opinion about Karin's blog about school trips:
In my opinion I agree with Karin that school trips should continue. Most of the time the trips are interesting and fun. It is always nice to get a break from the regular school day and the school trips give us a chance to be with our friends in a different place. T he only thing I would add is that there should be more free time on trips so pupils can do what they would like to do for a few hours.

B: I think that one way to improve blogs would be to write about things that interest young people
today such as music, movies and other things. Another idea is to write about things that we do every day, such as after school activities/

There is a plan by a local Muslim group in New York city to build a mosque near the site of the world trade center which was attacked nine years ago on September 11, 2001.
are many people who disagree with this plan, saying that it does not respect the memories of the 3000 people who died there. There are people who feel that a Muslim community center does not belong so close to the site of the World trade center.

However, there is a group lead by Donna O'Conner, who lost a daughter on 9/11, called Families for Peaceful tomorrows, who believes that the people who want to build this mosque are not the same people who attacked the world trade center. She feels that the group that wants to build this mosque believes in peace. Others feel that most Muslim people believe in freedom and peace and they should have the same rights as other Americans to build a mosque any where they want. In addition a poll done by the New York Daily News newspaper found that more than 60% of the people who voted believed that the mosque would help build better relations between Moslems and others

In my opinion, I feel that there should not be a mosque built near the site of the world trade center because even though they are not the same people they should respect the people who died there and their families.

the bedouin

The Bedouin people

The word "Bedu means inhabitant of the desert. Researchers believe they are the “true wanderers” of the desert. Meanwhile, modern Bedu themselves believe they are descendents of Shem, the son of Noah. The total population of Bedouin is unknown with at least 200,000-300,000 living in Arab countries and Israel.

Family Life

The family unit usually consists of three or four adults (a married couple plus siblings or parents) and their children.

Marriage

Originally some of Bedu society was polygamous - both men and women could have several spouses. A woman stayed in her father’s tent, and her children were brought up by her family. If a man wanted to divorce a woman he just said “I divorce you.” Marriage in the Bedouin culture may be arranged, but the woman may refuse if she is not pleased with the choice. Marriage, as in the past, often takes place within the family, between cousins. Marriage used to take place at a very young age around 13. This has now changed, with eighteen now the minimum marriage age.

Religion

Almost all Bedu are Muslims. The Hajj to Mecca is very important to the Bedu and many Bedouin children make the hajj before the age of ten.

Cultural traditions

In the Bedouin culture there is a special tradition called "Bisha" or "trial by fire". In this event a burning spoon or knife is placed on the tongue of an accused person. If his tongue is burned seriously then he is guilty. If his tongue is not burned then he is not guilty. This is a tradition that still exists today although is becoming less popular and regular trials are being used more. It was used mainly to uphold the Bedouin honor code.
This ritual very much reminds us of the trial Moses had to undergo in front of Pharaoh
You have presented a nice report.

I chose this patch picture because I think it describes every little thing that is connected to the holocaust. It's the picture that illustrates in the best way the reason for the death of 6,000,000 innocent jewish people. This picture shows us a patch with the word "jude" on it. It shows us explicitly that those 6,000,000 people died only because of only one reason - their faith.

The man in the picture is Alexander Pechersky, who was the chief organizer and leader of a successful Jewish uprising at the Sobibor extermination camp on October 1943. I chose this picture after I saw the movie "Escape from Sobibor", last night. For me, this man is one of the greatest symbols of bravery, courage and grit. Stories like Alexander teach us that without faith, desire and fighting, the situation may have been even worse.

This picture drawn by a young boy named Petr Ginz who was sent to Aushwitz during the Holocaust. He drew this picture to represent freedom that he thought he could have if he were standing on the moon looking at the Earth. This picture shows how he felt about being trapped in Aushwitz. Even the mountains look like a prison or gate that were holding him inside the concentration camp. Perhaps, like thediary of Anne frank, this picture represents the power of one person to show the horror that took place during the holocaust.

Is it a good idea for teenagers to work while studying at school?

There has been a lot of debate about the topic of whether teenagers need to work while they're studying. So, is it really good for teenagers to work during the school year? I would like to present the advantages and disadvantages of the issue.

There are several positive reasons for teens to work. First of all, teenagers want to be independent. They have a lot of expenses such as: clothes, school supplies, parties, food, shopping and a lot of things that normal teens spend money on. They don’t feel good running to their parents every time they need money, because they feel uncomfortable asking for money. Another advantage is that sometimes the teen's family is not in a good economic situation and this might make the child want to help.

In spite of these advantages, there is one very important disadvantage. When a teen works during the school year, it takes time away, time that he could be studying. This may effect his atittude toward studies and grades.

To summarize, I think that teenagers can work if they want to, but with a limited number of hours each week. This way they can combine independence with good study habits.
I loved your compo !! You use advanced structures (conditionals) good vocabulary and good organization! Pls tell me if you have worked alone. If you have been helped pls tell me how.

Problem
Hello, my name is Yasmin. I am 15 years old. I have a big problem. My parents don’t want me to stay out till the time that I want Friday nights. They say that is very dangerous for young girls to stay out so late, even though they know that I'm with a lot of friends and not by myself. I think they're being too over protective. They say it's their responsibility to protect me.

Advice
Hello Yasmin. Your problem is very common among teenagers your age. First, you have to understand why your parents worry so much and don’t let you stay out till the time you want. Try to put yourself in their position. I suggest that you and your parents come to an agreement, such as to always be in a public places with a lot of people that you know and trust. Also, you should never go anywhere by yourself at nights. When you return home, it should never be by yourself, it should always be with someone else and with a taxi that you have ordered from your local taxi company. In this way, I think, your parents will be more relaxed and you will be able to stay out till anytime you want.

description of a place

I would like to tell you about a very special trip I took to the USA two years ago, with my cousin, Liran, whom I'm very close to, my father, my uncle and his wife.

First of all, we went to New-York to see my family for few days. It was a lot of fun to be with people that I don’t see all the time. After two weeks, we flew to the fabulous city of Las Vegas. We rented a car there, and drove about six hours to the Grand Canyon. It's a place that cannot be described in words. The next day we drove about two hours to a beautiful area called Sedona. This place is very special because all of the canyons and mountains are made of beautiful red colored stones.

This trip was amazing and unforgettable. I especially recommend a visit to Sedona to anyone travelling to the USA, because you cannot find this type of scenery anywhere else in the whole world.

US and UK ENGLISH

US ENGLISH
Yesterday I went to the mall with my Mom. At first, we went to a store called ZARA. I wanted to buy new clothes for the winter. I saw many nice things, but at the end I bought a sweater, a rain coat, a vest and overalls. After that, we went to the movie theatre. We saw a movie about two people who worked in the same hardware store, and fell in love. I really liked the movie, it was beautiful!

My name - Yasmin

When I was born my parents had a hard time deciding what to call me. My mother insisted on using the letter "yud" for the first letter in my name in honor of her grandmother that was called Yona and had died a couple of years before I was born. However they did not want to call me Yona or Yonit because they wanted to use a more modern name. They discussed it for several days until they came up with the name, Yasmin. My father did not have a problem with the name because he really liked the flower, jasmine.

When I was a little girl I didn't really like my name at all but through the years I began to like it more and more. I especially like the way it sounds in English, Jasmine. My father always used different nicknames for me, such as Jessica, Jessy, and he sings me the song by the "Etnix" band called "Jessica". My girlfriends also have many nicknames for me such as "Yossi", "Yusuf", Chosefina" and "Chasmine" to name just a few.

One special thing that happened when I was born and is connected to my name is my aunt and her husband bought me a jasmine plant which was very small at the time and is still in our garden and is very large. To summarize, I like my name and many people compliment me on it and say that it is a name for a princess.

I do not Know any famous people with the name Yasmin. However, I do know that the name of the flower, Jasmine, appears in the bible. I also know that the name Yasmin is used in many arab countries such as Iran, Jordan and Iraq

Anne Frank

When Anne Frank wrote her diary, she didn't think that it would be published and read by people all over the world. However, because of what happened during the holocaust, Anne's father published her diary.
I think that he did it because all of his family was killed in the war. He was the only one who survived. I think that in (a) certain way, he felt guilty that he survived, and his whole family didn't. In addition, I think he wanted to find a way to deal with his loneliness and his loss.
I absolutely agree with his decision. I think that in spite of his personal reasons, it was an important document for the next generations to see what happened during world war two, from a point of view of a young person who was there.
Excellent work. (100)

Home? School?

In the story "The Fun They Had" the main characters live in the future and study at home with a mechanical teacher. Would this work in today's society? There are both good and bad sides to this question.

I believe that it is better to have a real teacher because you come to school and see your friends as well as learn. In addition, you have a relationship with your teachers and you can talk to your friends about the lessons. Being in a classroom with your teacher gives the pupil a chance to talk with her and ask questions, if he doesn't understand something. This way the response from the teacher is immediate and the pupil gets feedback right away.

If you study at home you cannot talk to anyone about your reaction to the lessons. Your grades are given quickly by the mechanical teacher, but there is no communication, so you don't learn from your mistakes. Plus, pupils have to spend a lot of time at home and cannot get out of the house for part of the day. This is not good for most pupils, who if they were learning at school would have breaks every couple of hours.(phr.)

In conclusion, I think that it is better to study at school with a regular teacher and to sit in a classroom with your friends and classmates. In(מיותר) this way the pupil can communicate directly with the teacher and enjoy direct communication, not only with the teacher but with his classmates as well.
This is better.

Home Work

The use of homework to help pupils learn material has been utilized for hundreds of years. The article about the young boy, Ben, and his case against homework raises many questions. Is homework really a good thing? Can pupils be successful without homework?

One of the ideas mentioned in the article is that school should be left at school. For example, homework should be done at school or that learning should take place at school and not at home. In my opinion Iit's a good idea. I feel that pupils concentrate more when they are at school.

I definately think that pupils can succeed without homework. If they want to succeed they will concentrate more when they are at school. In addition, there can be additional hours after school when pupils can receive additional help before they leave school

One positive thing about homework is that it can help you review material that you may need for a test. But even this can be done at school instead of at home, when pupils can work together and/or with their teachers.

I think that Ben had an interesting idea in trying to get rid of homework, but I don't think it will happen at my school soon.

activities influence

In most schools some part of the curriculum is dedicated to activities that take place outside of the school environment. I think it’s a good thing because it exposes children to other subjects that they don’t learn in school.

For example, this year my class went to Tel-Aviv University and we heard a speech about police investigation. This activity is just one example of a topic that we wouldn't ever learn in school.

Another example is the time we were taken to see the movie "The Believer". The movie was used to demonstrate what the speaker was talking about. He spoke about the influence that the media has on the public's opinions. This subject is very relevant and important to teenagers because they are very influenced by things they hear and see.

In my opinion and experience, activities that I've done outside of school have had an important effect on me. They have helped me to develop my own point of view, sometimes more than things I've learned inside school.
This is just great! Good work! (100)

too much love

There are some parents that will always help their children stay out of trouble, no matter how old they are. Their love and worry for their children may influence their children's future. I wonder if they ever think about what this may cause.

Too much worry can sometimes be a bad thing. In the story "All the years of her life" Alfred's mother worried about him too much and didn't let him deal with the troubles he got into by himself. She always hurried to help him, because after all, she didn't want her son to go to jail.
This caused her to feel helpless because Alfred continued to make mistakes and still she helped him time after time.

Parents, who consistently hurry to help their children stay out of trouble don’t necessarily know that they may prevent them from becoming independent. It may even cause them to become spoiled and dependent. It pays to have a balance between love and worry to avoid overdepedance.

In conclusion, most parents love their children and want the best for them. However, sometimes loving someone too much, even your own child, can have a negative effect.

Its been 8th years. 8 years! Of the cruel surprise coming from the sky directly into the lives of the people in the south of Israel, Sderot, Asheklon and around . The Palastiniens found an incredibly intense and efficient way to express their feeling toward the Israeli government and Israeli people. They are trying to kill as much as they can. The Israeli people who live in the south of Israel have suffered for many years and always tried to show their pain. Although everybody listened to them, nobody could help. This time they didn't give up and the citizens did everything to lead to the current war going on in Gaza. Although there are victims on both sides Israeli and Arabs, we all hope it will lead to quiet and peace in the area.

The story "The Blanket" by Floyd Dell is a very sensitive story that deals with family relationships. As in real life, there are families that have an old grandparent or step mother, etc. In this story we see how Petey's father tries to deal with some different problems. Because Petey's father is planning to get married, he wants to send his father to an old-age home. To make it easier for Petey, Granddad unselfishly pretends that it was his idea. However, Petey, who loves his granddad very much, shows his father that the way you treat loved ones, is how you will be treated in the future.

There have been many interesting inventions in the past 100 years. Each person will give a different answer to the question, "What is the greatest technological discovery"?

In my opinion the greatest invention is the cell phone. There are many reasons for this. First of all, the cell phone is a good way to communicate with people in an emergency. If your car is stuck or you need help in an emergency, the cell phone is a great way to get help. Secondly, parents can always know where their children are if they have a cell phone. If the child forgets to call their parents then the parents can always call the child and not worry about them. Of course the cell phone is a great invention for many other reasons that everyone knows such as talking to friends.

When I asked my grandmother what the greatest invention was, she answered the washing machine. She said that in the past it was very hard to wash clothes by hand. In addition, the washing machine saves time and also washes the clothes better than she did by hand.

The difference between my opinion and the opinion of my grandmother is very clear. She looks at things from the point of view of her family and I look at things from my point of view. This shows how age and generation influence our ideas about new inventions and modern technology.

I would like to give my opinion of children's rights in Israel. This usually depends on which part of Israel you are talking about. Some children have more rights than others.

Today there are many different types of people and children living in Israel. For example, there are rich people who usually have no problem giving their children most of the rights they need. They have protection, live in good neighborhoods with their families, go to good schools, and feel safe most of the time. There are other families that are not very rich that live in buildings that are not very safe. Children who live in these neighborhoods go to schools that are not as safe or as good. In adddition, children from these neighborhoods are not as protected from crime or other dangers as children from rich neighborhoods.

To summarize, the children of Israel have their basic human rights most of the time even though there could be some improvements. Although ther are some problems with security in Israel, in general Israel takes care of its children very well.
